Made from primary inactive yeast with no artificial additives or preservatives, our Nutritional Yeast Flakes are a versatile vegan food with have a deliciously nutty, cheesy taste.
An almost essential part of many vegetarian vegan diets, it is a great way to enhance the flavour of even the blandest of foods.
Nutritional yeast is not the same as brewers yeast & has no raising properties or gluten.
It can be sprinkled on almost any food to add a cheesy flavour during cooking, or used simply as a condiment & sprinkled over food when serving.
Throw some on cooked pasta as the perfect alternative to parmesan cheese – this is one of our favourite ways of using it!
Try it on jacket potatoes, veggies & salads, or add to soups, stews & broths.
For a quick vegan ‘cheese sauce’, add to a blender:
- 1 pot Nutritional Yeast Flakes
- 1 roughly chopped onion
- 1 red pepper, deseeded
- 1/2 cup raw cashew nuts (soaked overnight in water makes it creamier, or use straight out the bag)
- 1 Tbsp tahini (optional)
Blitz until fairly smooth, then gently heat before drizzling over steamed veggies (broccoli & cauliflower are our faves!), or use in place of a cheese sauce whenever a recipe demands it. We use this in our pasta bake now instead of béchamel or cheese sauce.
Feel free to experiment – you can even sprinkle a few flakes on popcorn or toast for a quick treat!
